History of the association

It all started in 2001.

On return to Paraguaçu Paulista SP, I did not need much time to admit the reality. The city had stopped in time and space compared to younger cities in the area.

What most caught my attention was the poverty. Back in Europe, Belgium, I got in touch with well-known people, friends, ladies of Belgian society, and the ‘aid’ solution was becoming clear.

The dispatchment of clothes, warm clothes, shoes, furniture, toys, and cooking utensils then started in order to distribute these to the most impoverished. And the children ? I then established the godmother system ; thank God we can count on regular aid from these ladies, this enabled us and still enables us to offer :

• English classes, computer classes and swimming classes (for children with breathing problems) ;
• occasionally, food aid, medical aid, as for example : payment of medical exams, medical visits and medicines ;
• social aid : payment of dental prostheses (2x), payment of prostheses for amputees (1x) ;
• aid for the payment of water and electricity bills and late rents.

We have also given beds, mattresses, children’s clothes, toys and shoes bought directly in the city’s shops.
Currently, we distribute 60 litres of milk a week for children aged between 3 and 12 years.

THE NGO PINGO DE GENTE SOCIO-CULTURAL ORGANIZATION with the intention of always helping the poor population of Paraguaçu Paulista SP, made donations of meat on Christmas eve the 24/12/2010. Unlike hundreds of people who bestow gifts at this time of year, the NGO increased awareness for people to have food on the table on Christmas day.

Pingo de Gente is advancing slowly but surely aside impoverished people, respecting them and struggling for these persons to have a better future thanks to education and sport.
